Casey Kobunski, M.A., CCC-SLP
Speech Language Pathologist
Hi, I’m Casey Kobunski — the speech-language pathologist behind Glass City Voices.
At Glass City Voices, I provide speech-language therapy and family communication support that’s rooted in connection and evidenced-based values and ethics. I believe communication should feel natural, empowering, and respectful — for every child and every family.
My goal is to help children express themselves with confidence, and to support families as they build strong, connected communication at home, in school, and beyond.
Before starting Glass City Voices, I worked as a school-based SLP with experiences supporting preschool and elementary-aged students. These experiences continue to shape how I partner with families and honor each child’s unique learning path.
Whether we’re supporting early communication skills, preparing for an IEP meeting, or finding everyday routines that encourage language, I’m here to offer guidance that’s compassionate, practical, and rooted in what works.
Why Choose Glass City Voices?

Child-Led
What it means:
Child-led therapy prioritizes the child’s choices, interests, and pace throughout a session. Instead of directing and overwhelming, I follow the child’s lead—tuning into what captures their attention and using that as the foundation for communication.
Why it matters:
When a child feels in control, their engagement naturally increases. A child-led approach respects autonomy, reduces pressure, and promotes trust and emotional safety. It also creates more opportunities for authentic communication—where motivation and meaning drive development.
Play-Based
What it means:
Play-based therapy uses developmentally appropriate play as the foundation for learning. Sessions are guided by the child’s interests and structured with clear, intentional goals in mind. Through play, we address the goals all within a meaningful and motivating context.
Why it matters:
Play is the most natural way young children learn. Research consistently supports that children acquire communication skills more effectively through active, hands-on experiences. A play-based approach also helps reduce pressure, increase engagement, and promote carryover of skills across environments—making progress feel safe, supported, and sustainable.
Family Approach
What it means:
Family-centered therapy values the role of caregivers as key partners in their child’s development. You know your child best, and this approach honors that. Sessions involve guidance, collaboration, and practical strategies that fit into the family’s routines and priorities.
Why it matters:
Children grow best in safe, connected relationships. When caregivers are supported and empowered with tools that work for their home, progress becomes more consistent and long-lasting—because it’s happening where life actually happens.

Neurodiversity - Affirming
What it means:
A neurodiversity-affirming approach recognizes and respects that all brains learn, communicate, and interact differently—and those differences are not deficits. Therapy focuses on honoring each child’s unique strengths, supporting regulation, removing barriers rather than attempting to “fix” or normalize.
Why it matters:
When children are supported and grow with new communication tools, without being asked to mask who they are, they build confidence, stronger relationships, and long-term well-being. This approach helps create environments where children feel seen, heard, and truly accepted—leading to more meaningful progress.
Sensory-Based
What it means:
Sensory-based speech therapy considers a child’s unique sensory preferences—how they respond to sounds, textures, movement, visual input, and more. Strategies are used to help a child feel regulated, safe, and ready to learn. Regulation becomes before communication.
Why it matters:
Sensory needs directly impact communication. When therapy supports regulation and respects a child’s sensory profile, children are better able to engage, express themselves, and build and attain new communication skills.
